We are only here and able to do what we do through the generosity and dedication of our friends and family.
This is what they have to say:
"I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa and Sherri while we were all volunteering with Tinkuy Peru in
Huancayo, Peru, during the summer of 2006.  We all witnessed first hand the devastating poverty and
want that afflicts the central Andes region of the country.  Unfortunately, the area is still trying to
recover from the Shining Path terrorist campaign of the 1980s and 1990s.  We were all struck both by
the friendliness and determination of the local people despite their circumstances and how  little it
actually takes to make a difference.  President Bush isn't lying when he says one in four of Latin
Americans live on $2 a day or less.  This especially true of Peru where that number is closer to 40%.

Sherri and Lisa, in particular, were befriended by Presli, a bright, outgoing, young boy at the Rosario
orphanage.  Presli was badly burned on his face as an infant, and the stigma attached to such a wound
in Peru makes future discrimination all but inevitable.  Presli also suffers from reduced vision and
respiratory illnesses because of the scarring.  This will only increase his difficulties in a region that
lacks jobs, good supplies of clean drinking water, and proper nutrition.

Through the aid of Lisa, Sherri, and Peru Donations, Presli will be able to have surgery that will fix his
disability and allow him to forgo such a dark future in a city where his employment options are sadly
limited by factors far outside his control."
